With more and more realtors desperate to make a deal, and keep their clients happy, they are finding themselves in certian demanding situations. Home buyers/sellers have realized the predicament their realtors are in and some of them are definitely taking advantage.

Now instead of the owner cleaning the home, more and more realtors are being forced to take on that task themselves to sell; they know that they don’t get their money until the property is sold and if the owner is not taking care of home presentation, sometimes the realtor has to dive in. OK, maybe that can be a bit understandable, but how far is too far?

Realtors have talked of having to do last minute cleaning, drastic lawn repair, etc. Besides house cleaning, realtors have even spoken of their clients calling them to do errands: picking up dry cleaning, driving them to appointments, etc. The realestatehomejournal.com recently reported how, ¨ Mary Hartley, in Albany, Oregon, organized a garage sale for one seller, spent 10 hours painting the side of the house for another and recently enlisted her grandchildren to help clean out the debris in a crawl space for a third.¨

Of course, some realtors do draw the line and risk the losing of a client, but should they be forced to become a labor hire hand just in order to have the hope of a sell further down the road? RE/MAX´s training coaches encourages realtors to provide and be willing to do extra services, but only to the extent that they still be comfortable, so more or less it is each to their with the matter of how much to do, and where to draw the line.
