Nowadays it is not only young collage students seeking roommates. Rising trends show that more and more woman of all ages are living together, especially the so called baby boomer generation. Why is this? One big reason is the cost of living. It is more difficult for a single woman to live alone today. Possibly, said woman wants more of a home then a rental; perhaps she is looking for something to buy. The problem is that with today’s prices, it is very difficult to achieve this, so more and more women are buying together. The AARP, an organization which does studies of the mid to upper aged, and uses this to implement positive change to the said age group, recently did a study last year on living habits. Of the women they surveyed (Ages 49-59) over half considered living with a friend to be a good plan. They liked being able to save money and have a more permanent place of establishment. Of course, they also liked the idea of companionship, as many do not prefer to live only and would rather to have someone to share their day with.
