During the last Annual NAR Conference and Exposition, a “Forming & Managing Championship Power Teams” session was held. As competition is increasing to pull in buyers and sellers, realtors are relying more and more on teamwork. This year Rismedia also participated, their President/CEO John Featherston, was a moderator along with Ralph Roberts, who served as Agent Team Coach. Panelists who attended the session feel that the idea of realtors working alone will soon be replaced by partnering/teamwork. Several guidelines were laid out during the session. Roberts stated that the first step has to be a solid foundation, ¨ This foundation is created by systems, which include means of organization, ways of compiling and keeping track of information and bringing in new technology that will help your company thrive¨. Panelists were also informed that there is no ¨I¨ in the word team; everyone has their own strengths and weakness and they must identify those and work together on solutions in order to have success. This goes hand in hand with advice given by Lois Maljak, a fellow realtor and assistant to Roberts. She said that, “You have to figure out what you are good at and then find someone who is the opposite to that and pair with them,”. They also stressed that communication and correct treatment/respect is needed; no team can keep going without internal support and motivation. Roberts’s main tip was that “There really is no secret to success. It’s about having your team set up for success.” For more information, Roberts and Featherston also have a book available, Power Teams: The Complete Guide to Building and Managing a Winning Real Estate Agent Team. |
