Many times when someone choses to move, they are looking to get out of their current area due to a number of reasons: boredom, to be closer to loved ones, job change, etc. Some Realtors do not want to work with these clients, preferring to only work with those buying who currently live in the same regions as the Realtor, but why? You are drastically limiting your client base if you refuse to work with out of town clients. Another potential problem is that depending on your town size, the inhabitants may be frequently informed on who is looking to buy/sell and decide to cut out the middle man, the Realtor. An out of towner, not familiar with the area or near enough to take care of all the little details, is a lot more likely to go with a professional, a Realtor.

It might be a little more difficult to schedule appointments, and cost a bit more with long distance phone calls, but sometimes you have to give a little to get a little. How much worth does a buying client have to you?
