As we all know, in the world of realty, what affects one affects us all. Right now a growing problem is being observed, as more and more landlords are becoming unable to pay their mortgages, the numbers of foreclosures are rising. This is causing a ripple effect in living conditions everywhere.

Before, many bought homes as an investment for the future, using them to rent out as a source of income. Every time one of these investments goes into foreclosure, more and more renters are facing eviction with little notice and without a lot of options.

A housing attorney for a Boston Legal Center, The Massachusetts Law Reform, Judith Liben says that banks normally want to get the renters out as soon as possible so they can sell the property. The problem is that right now, everything is hard to sell; so many places are left vacant. This lessens the amount of ready housing available (while the demand for a place to rent is rising) and also increases crime and neighborhood deterioration. With most renters getting only 3-30 days notice, more are also being forced to temporarily live in cars, shelters, etc.
