Developers are trying a new angle to pull in buyers, the key word being charity. One developer Richard McWhorter, held a fishing tournament on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He covered the entry fee for any resident in his development or any buyer who wanted to participate in the event. This is smart marketing, as many took him up on the offer, leading to at least one reported deal for him.
A strategy such as this is great if the developer has enough to back it, it shows personality of character. It shows that developers are not just interested in profit, but instead want to give something back.
Other developers are also promising a percentage of the sale to certain charities, while a few are even making donations mandatory. Each home owner must pay a fee that goes into a non profit foundation run by existing residents who dole donations to local charities. |
