According to the National Association of Home Builders the demand for homes is not going well. Near the end of 2007 a rise had been predicted, but now they do not expect the numbers to rise to the previous normal demand until some time in 2010, something substantiated by the CEO of their builder´s trade group, Jerry Howard. Howard has also announced that this will probably cause an increase in job lossage for their sectors. Last year alone, over 165,000 jobs were lost as there was an overall slow in construction with new home building, foreclosed home repair, etc.

Howard did say that while the legislation´s actions with the Senate to increase foreclosed home demand has helped, it is to late to benefit this year. He also said that, "While we congratulate the Senate for taking the bull by the horns now, it would have been much more helpful for the economy in this calendar year if they had done this in the stimulus bill,". The stimulus bill was passed in February by Congress and dealt with over $150 billion in tax rebates. Although the new legislation is too late to solve all the current problems, it will help homebuilders somewhat as it gives them, and other firms tax relief due to the mortgage loan defaults, etc.

The bill does not help home buyers/owners much though, as it only allows a $7,000 tax credit for those buying foreclosed homes, which again does not help the demands for homes enough to substantially raise demand in the industry.
