Countrywide wants to help struggling borrowers. They are working on arranging deals for borrows with all kinds of sub prime loans, and more specifically manageable payment plans for those with sub prime adjustable rate loans.

Data from the Mortgage Brokers Association, says that over half of the types of sub prime loans in the U.S. are those of fixed-rate borrowers. This goes well with a new plan Countrywide has in the works with ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now). This deal will add those with fixed-rates to the plans in place to make managing of sub prime loans easier for the borrower.

With ACORN they will make standards to help borrowers keep their homes, as well as offer reduced interest rates. For those that have teaser (or sub prime hybrid adjustable rates, they could be allowed to refinance with a lower rate loan, or have the interest rate frozen for 5 years. Teaser rates commonly start out at a low interest that raises after 2-3 years.
