Lowe’s and the TV program, This Old House, have come up with 5 quick 1 hour home upgrades.
  1. Paint Your Front Door: Use a color that stands out and make sure to take off any old peeling paint, etc. Remember the door is the first thing anyone sees.
  2. Change Your Furnace Filter:  Do this right before the heating season and it will drastically change your air quality, as well as allow your furnace to run better.
  3. Power-Wash Your Walkway: Like your door, it is part of the first impression of your home. It doesn’t reflect well if the walkway is really dirty, with dirt, weeds, etc. Power washers are simple and cost effective to rent. This can also be used on the outside of your walls on a low pressure nozzle setting.
  4. Dress Up Doors:  Spicing up your doors doesn’t just have to involve paint. Add some new molding and handle fixtures to give it a little special emphasis.
  5. Recaulk Your Tub:  While others may not notice this, you sure will. Nothing makes a bath more relaxing then a nice atmosphere.  One helpful is to fill the tub with water; this expands the gaps so that when the caulk dries it won’t crack later when body weight is added.
