If you are selling by owner and have been contacted by an agent to show the home, you might have heard/seen the term 'agent protection.' But what is it? It is most likely a way that the agent, should he/she help you find a buyer, protect his/her commission. This makes sense because if the agent helps you find a buyer, shouldn't you compensate them? There is also a 'one time show.' This is when the agent will have you sign a 'contract' and then the agent will start bringing in clients for you. It essentially prevents you and the potential buyer from striking a deal without the agent's consent at a later date. What do you think? |
