It's surprising what is somtimes printed as news isn't it?  Apparently the Midwest offers the country's most affordable housing while California offer's the most expensive...amazing - who knew?

Cities all over Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio seem to be the places to live when you are pinching pennies.  A quick check shows properties scattered through out each state at roughly $100,000.  Not bad for a nice little roof over your head.  Now onto the other side of the spectrum...Homes in L.A. are priced at around roughly $525,000 on average, quite a difference.

That said, given the state of the market, perhaps there are even better deals out there now.  Sellers that have had their homes on the market for months now might be a bit tired of waiting it out and may be open to a reasonable offer.
